We haven't been able to obtain official fishing schedules for all of the South of France, and we don't keep up with annual or seasonal changes for any of the different fishing areas. The information below should be used as a general guide only. Contact the appropriate associations or Offices de Tourisme to get the latest information.

1st Category
The highest-quality trout-fishing rivers are authorized for fishing from mid-March to mid-September.
2nd Category
Other rivers and lakes and canals (such as the Canal du Midi) are open for fishing year-round, but with many local variations.
Alpes-Maritimes Mountain Lakes
Fishing season for the high-mountain lakes is from 1 July to mid-September. The stock trout comes from the trout farms (centre de pisciculture) at Roquebillière (map).
